What to do When You Arrive at Porter Campus

Check-in will take place from 4:00 – 5:30 on Thursday at the Porter Campus Quad.

• For those of you who have been there before, drive past the lower and upper entries for Rachel Carson (formerly College 8) and turn left on Porter-Kresge Rd. and left into Porter College.  Park then look for signs for Conference Services office or Far West Roundup check-in.  Some reminders…The Koi Pond is on Porter Campus.
• For Greenhorns (newbies) – Use your GPS for UCSC Porter College, the posted directions or ask at the campus entry gate.

During the registration process you will be given a meal card, a key to your room, a parking permit and directions to the legal parking areas. Cars must have a permit on their windshields or you will be ticketed.

The Get-Acquainted Reception at the Koi Pond (Porter Campus) begins at 6:00 pm and includes a buffet of hot and cold hors-d’oeuvres.  It is recommended that both commuters and residents register in time to get to this party, including time to unload and park your car. You should try to arrive for registration no later than 5:00 pm to avoid being late for the reception.

When you leave, you must return your meal card and room key to the Conference Services office.  If you fail to do so, you will be charged $10 for the meal card and $60 for the room key.

Late Arrival Instructions

For late arrival is handled very much like the regular arrival, follow directions to the Conference Services Office.  You will be given your room key and meal card or meal tickets.  The staff can direct you to the Thursday reception (Koi Pond), the cafeteria (Rachel Carson Cafeteria), or the lecture room (Rachel Carson Classroom), depending upon when you arrive.

If you arrive after 10 pm in the evening, you will be stopped at the West Entrance.  Tell them you are attending the Far West Roundup.  Someone will either direct you or escort you to your dorm room. You should then register at the Porter Campus Conference Office the next morning to obtain your parking permit, keys, and meal card.
